Eilliott Yamin, the soulful R&B crooner who placed third American Idol's fifth season, drops his new new album Fight For Love on May 5. He went independent this time around, co-writing most of the album and releasing it on Hickory Records. Still, he's got some power in his pocket with producers Jermaine Dupri and Dave Tozer on the credits.

We likes us some Giggle Party 'round here. The "party punk rock" seizure-pop quartet is equal parts adorable and ferocious, like a fluffy bunny outfitted with cobra fangs. Check them out Friday night at the Lounge (2810 Elm St.) with Man Man and Boom Boom Box.

The band is also working on a video for their first single, "Jason Bought a Hatchet." London-based illustrator Damien Weighill is sprinkling his magic all over it, as he did for The Handsome Kitten, the Expo Park DIY venue run by GP keyboardist Kat Michie and bassist Jason Reichl. We'll be sure to drop some linkage when the video debuts, so stay tuned.
I have no plans for "Earth" day other than doing my damnedest to destroy it. But that is like every other day. The reason I try to destroy Earth is because I have always been such a fan of Earth's chief rival, Neptune. Neptune has a cooler name and cheaper land values. On Neptune, you don't have the social pressure of Earth. There is no Twitter, Facebook or judgmental stares when you try to lick your own scrotum in restaurants. You can even hump strangers, if you can find them, without reprisal or uncomfortable social laughter. Yes, give me Neptune any day. Men may be from Mars and women may be from Venus, but I long for residence on Neptune.
