Day Tripper: Best events for the weekend

With Bob Dylan, Willie Nelson and John Mellencamp at the same show, it's almost like we get our own personal Farm Aid. See this all-star lineup at the new home of the Airhogs. All three artists have mile-long song lists to pull from in concert, but we're hoping there will be a few collaborations. 5:30 p.m. QuikTrip Park, 1600 Lone Star Parkway, Grand Prairie. $67.50. 972-504-9383 or airhogsbaseball.com.

Nineteen-member Canadian outfit Broken Social Scene likes its pop orchestral and grand. And with that many people, it's kinda hard not to sound that way. Sit back and enjoy their melodic indie rock ... after you watch how they manage to fit every member of the group onstage. 9 p.m. Palladium Ballroom, 1135 S. Lamar St. $20. 1-800-745-3000 or ticketmaster.com

Mike Epps has been honing his acting chops in recent years in comic films such as Next Friday and The Hangover, and dramas Something New and Roll Bounce. But don't be surprised when he settles back into stand-up nicely, since that's where he got his start. 8 p.m. Nokia Theatre, 1001 Performance Place, Grand Prairie. $29.50-$49.50. 1-800-745-3000 or ticketmaster.com.

Austin singer-songwriter Bob Schneider performs at the Granada Theater, 3524 Greenville Ave. With Odis, Charlie Shafter and the Gnomes. 8 p.m., doors at 7 p.m. $17 and $22. granadatheater.com.

Austin electronic act Vega performs at The Lounge on Elm St. With Til We're Blue or Destroy and Blixaboy. 2810 Elm St. $8. myspace.com/theloungeonelmst.

SEED 2009, the latest edition of this recurring art-meets-music fundraising event will showcase lanterns made from coffee tins by 20 local artists. Taking the stage will be rock bands True Widow and Airline, as well as folk singer Glen Farris. 7 p.m. Sons of Hermann Hall, 3414 Elm St. Cover TBA. artconspiracy.org.

Dallas singer-songwriter Matthew Bridgman will help provide the perfect vibe for a low-key night at Opening Bell. Think slow, sad folk songs in the style of Damien Rice. With Jacob Metcalf. 9 p.m. Opening Bell's Southside location, 1409 S. Lamar St. Suggested donation of $5. 214-565-0383. openingbellcoffee.com.

We haven't heard new music from subtly spiritual Dallas pop band Radiant in quite a while, but that hasn't stopped it from drawing good crowds whenever it decides to play live. With Air Review. 8:30 p.m. Curtain Club, 2800 Main St. Cover TBA. curtainclub.com.

Top Notch Entertainment presents a bikini contest at Primal. DJ Nasty Boy spins dance and hip-hop. 10 p.m. 7402 Greenville Ave. Suite 101. No cover for ladies. For guys, $5 before 10:30 p.m., $10 after. 469-826-9472. topnotchent.com.

2R Recordings presents Then and Now at the Lizard Lounge. DJs Raydar, Shaolin, Pweezy, Edzilla and Kidd Love spin new school while Kidd Koas, Hex, Joe CN and Audio Pimp spin old school. Doors open at 9 p.m. 2424 Swiss Ave. No cover for ladies before 11 p.m. $10 for 21 and up, $15 for under 21. 214-826-4769. thelizardlounge.com.

First Friday Fling at Absinthe Lounge. The Goldfish Girls start the night with old-school hip-hop. DJ Mind Control spins at 10 p.m. Doors at 4 p.m. 1409 S. Lamar St. No cover. 214-941-9338. absinthelounge.net.

The House Party at M Street Bar. ATG spins hip-hop and Top 40. No cover for ladies before 10:30 p.m. Doors at 9 p.m. 3520 Greenville Ave. $10. 214-370-5500. mstreetbar.com.
