Day Tripper: Best events for Thursday, Aug. 13

We've heard a couple of tracks from Maxx Moon, the Picnic-Astronautalis hip-hop duo: last year's hypnotizing leak "Mr. Colourful" and the newer, hyper tune "Urban Outfitters," which is on the 2009 Kixpo mix tape. Here's a chance to see them do their thing live, and hear a few more new tracks. 8 p.m. The Lounge on Elm St., 2810 Elm St. $6-$8.myspace.com/theloungeonelmst.

Dashboard Confessional guitarist John Lefler performs with Salim Nourallah, the Moncho Poncho and Winslow Bright. Doors at 7 p.m., show at 8. Granada Theater, 3524 Greenville Ave. $10 and $15. granadatheater.com.

Andrew Savage's two musical projects are among the most enjoyable we've come across in the past few months. The full band Teenage Cool Kids offers undeniably catchy indie-pop, while duo Fergus & Geronimo plays a down-and-dirty take on the Motown sound. With Smith Westerns and Girls. 8 p.m. Mable Peabody's, 1215 E. University Drive, Denton. $5. 940-566-9910.

Veteran metal group Judas Priest is celebrating the 30th anniversary of its British Steel album by performing it live in its entirety -- a first. 7 p.m. Nokia Theatre, 1001 Performance Place, Grand Prairie. $59.50. 1-800-745-3000 or ticketmaster.com.

Third-anniversary party at Suite. SKAM artist DJ Vice will spin. Must RSVP to attend. 10 p.m. 4515 Travis St. No cover. 469-223-0567. E-mail reservations@suitedallas.com.

Jeremiah Weed Sweet Tea Vodka Party at the Hotel Capri. Complimentary sweet tea vodka cocktails from 9 to 11 p.m. Complimentary champagne and mimosas for the ladies until midnight. 2020 Greenville Ave. No cover. 817-729-1444. thehotelcapri.com.

Girls Night Out at Plush. Robert Pennington and Rob Vaughn mix dance, hip-hop and Top 40. Groups of eight or more girls enjoy a complimentary bottle. 10 p.m. 1400 Main St. 214-606-1203. myspace.com/plushdallas.

Pimps and Hoes Party at Purgatory. Girls in "working girl" gear and guys in pimp outfits enjoy no cover before 11 p.m. Billy the Kidd, Hex, ATG and DTrain spin throughout the night, and there will be a costume contest and cash drop. Doors open at 10 p.m. 2208 Main St. $10. 972-567-3068. accessdallas.com.
