Knox Street Pub owner Blake Bogus has informed me that an upcoming karaoke night at the bar will benefit a great, local cause.
On Oct. 1, a portion of every drink sold will go to Shelley's Heroes, a local team participating in and raising money for the Alliance for Lupus Research's annual walkathon.
Lupus is a chronic, autoimmune disease in which the sufferer's immune system attacks the body's own cells and tissue. It most often harms the joints, lungs, heart, skin and kidneys.
Shelley Shuttlesworth was a recent college grad when she learned she had lupus in 2000, and now she raises awareness and funds for the Walk With Us event, which takes place Oct. 3. Find more information on the walk here, and raise your glass to fighting lupus at Knox on Oct. 1.
