The State Fair of Texas Alphabet: Z

NQ_06fair07web.jpg

Z is for Zebra. That's right. To close out the fair on its final day of 2009, we are bringing you a double shot of the state fair alphabet. Just when you thought yummy made your day, you get zebra thrown in at no extra charge!

Zebras are just one of many different animals you get a chance to see up close and personal at the State Fair of Texas. And, I know what you are thinking. Looking at a zebra's stripes reminds you of the hamburglar's outfit, which reminds you of McDonald's, which makes you hungry for the long discontinued McDLT, which makes you so very sad.

So, you don't want to see the zebra. Seeing zebras is depressing. Not this zebra. He's very cheerful. I already miss the fair.

The State Fair of Texas Alphabet: Y

Y is for Yummy! How else could you describe all the different foods at the fair? It seems like all the best treats are fried - fried Oreos, fried butter, fried cheesecake, corny dogs, fried peaches and french fries, just to name a few.

If you've been toying around with the idea of expanding your waistline for a while now, this is your big chance. You can pick your favorite fried food and go to town. Or, better yet, do like Janet Piper (left) and James Jordan and try one of everything!
