Day Tripper: Best events for the weekend

FRIDAY

Maybe these two acts come from different eras and don't exactly mesh musically, but they're definitely kindred spirits in the art of provocative live performance. The Butthole Surfers, a beloved Texas alt-rock band fronted by Gibby Haynes, is touring again with its reunited '80s lineup. Peaches hails from Canada and can whip the hipsters into a frenzy with her oversexed, aggressive electro. You don't want to miss this show. With opening act MEN. 8 p.m. Granada Theater, 3524 Greenville Ave. $33. granadatheater.com.

Dallas-raised soul singer N'Dambi just released an album on the legendary label Stax Records. Pink Elephant features her at her most empowered, especially on the kiss-off single "Can't Hardly Wait." Any lover of smooth R&B grooves and storytelling lyrics will enjoy her show. 9 p.m. (also Saturday at 9 p.m.) Clarence Muse Cafe Theater, Dallas Convention Center, 650 S. Griffin St. $20. ticketmaster.com.

Back in their '80s heyday, the Pogues merged traditional Irish music with the spirit of punk rock, including tracks such as "If I Should Fall From Grace With God" and the boozy Christmas classic "Fairytale of New York." Should be interesting to see them after all these years. With Justin Townes Earle. 7 p.m. House of Blues, 2200 N. Lamar St. $45-$65. ticketmaster.com.

SATURDAY
