I got into all kinds of mischief all around town. The good kind, of course ;-)
On Friday, I attended a private reception preceding Dallas Rocks' gala Diamond Dinner. The party was hosted by Russell Simmons (above -- thanks, Elijah Wheaton, for the pic!), who is founder of D.E.F., the Diamond Empowerment Fund, which teams with major players in the diamond industry to empower and educate Africans. I briefly met with Russell, who was warm and personable and mingled with everyone. About 30 minutes after chatting with him, who should enter the party but Louise, one of the Dallas contestants (recently kicked off) of this season's Project Runway! Had to corner her ...
She looked fierce in a gray dress of her own creation, and that fabulous flapper-girl bob. I asked her if her PR stint got her any notice, and she said she's considering working with Courtney Love on Love's fashion line. Coolness!
Soon the party's roar was hushed for an official to thank sponsors, benefactors, friends of Dallas Rocks and D.E.F. Russell Simmons took the mic to say a few words -- as you can see by my photo, I was about a foot away from him -- and as he spoke, in walks Terrance Howard (right). The actor. Well, I couldn't believe my eyes, so I had to go up to him and confirm it was him. It was him. He was lookin' foyne, wearing black on black on black and a cute cap to top it off. Meow!
Last night, I attended a post-wedding reception for candleroom and Sunset Lounge owner Tommy DeAlano and his new bride, Krystal. They booked the Joule hotel's rooftop pool lounge and PM lounge (above) for the invite-only event. What a bash -- they arrived at the poolside in tux and wedding gown and made the rounds, personally thanking everyone. Down at PM, they danced up a storm -- heck, everyone did. The DJ kept things at a constant simmer with a mix of '70s and '80s dance hits. Congrats to the DeAlanos (below) and thanks for a fabulous party.
