Hump Day Happy Hour: Cretia's

Cretia's.JPG

Now, here's the most whimsical hump day happy hour I ever did see. Every Wednesday, Cretia's on McKinney celebrates the middle of the week with baked goods and bubbly. For $15, guests can enjoy one cupcake and a bottomless glass of champagne from 8 p.m. until 2 a.m. Makes Wednesday sound pretty special, don't it?

Cretia's, 4900 McKinney Ave. 214-780-0200

Day Tripper: Best events for Wednesday, Dec. 2

The Toronto pop-rock band Metric (led by the '80s-cool vocals of Emily Haines) has grown accustomed to large crowds at its shows, so get to the Palladium early if you want a good spot. And you should also plan for the song "Help I'm Alive" to get stuck in your cranium ... permanently. With opening act Band of Skulls. 7:30 p.m. Palladium Ballroom (in the Showroom space), 1135 S. Lamar St. $20. ticketmaster.com.

If you prefer metal to Metric, go to the larger part of the Palladium complex for the Endgame Tour. Dave Mustaine and Megadeth are the headliners, along with Machine Head, Suicide Silence and Arcanium. Doors at 6 p.m. Palladium Ballroom, 1135 S. Lamar St. $34.50. ticketmaster.com.

OK, so it's a crazy night in the Palladium complex, as the adjoining Loft brings acclaimed garage-rock trio the Whigs, which recently enjoyed the opening slot on the national Kings of Leon tour. Fans can expect to hear some tracks from their upcoming album In the Dark, set for release next year. With the Features and the Crash That Took Me. 7:30 p.m. The Loft, 1135 S. Lamar St. $10. ticketmaster.com.

Hallucinatory Hump-Day with DeeJay CeePee at 10 p.m., upstairs at The Cavern, 1914 Greenville Ave. Free. thecaverndallas.com.
